A Mastery Measure cannot be extended from one school year to the next. Classworks recommends documenting student progress at the end of the year, reassessing the student, and assigning an updated Mastery Measure at the beginning of the next school year.

Near the end of the regular school year, end the active Mastery Measure
Add a detailed note explaining the reason for ending the current probe. Include details to guide:
- Teaching staff in establishing a new Mastery Measure at the beginning of the next school year.
- Families with useful information they can use to work with their students on their goals over the summer break.
- Share it with families
- Attach it to the learner’s IEP record either in the IEP management software or the physical file.
